It was the final day of Lifestyle Award and the Garden Rescuers, were excited to receive a generous donation of seeds from Sandhills Garden Centre.
Unfortunately, it’s too late in the season to start planting, these will give them a great head start come spring time when they get growing all kinds of vegetables and herbs.
The group also added a final touch to the garden – a sign to tell people that it is now a community space for all to enjoy. With a well-stocked seed bank now in place. They are excited for when the raised planters are built by Thirteen Housing so the families of the local community can adopt a plot and get growing together!
“we’ve enjoyed everything about this project, especially the painting and planting. We wanted to make a nice garden where people can plant and grow flowers and vegetables and fruit. We made a plan to make sure that even people in wheelchairs can get involved too.
It made us really excited to get donations of plants and seeds to help our project and it made us feel really supported. Now it’s finished we will continue to look after it – thank you for this experience”
