Over the 6-week summer holiday period, our Youth Team has been in the community and delivered multiple active sport sessions each week, the sessions ran from Shelley Avenue Sports Pavilion, East mount Recreational Center and Soccer Sensations for young people aged 10-19.
During this period and following social distancing guidelines, Child Dynamix provided a variety of sporting activities which included; tennis and kick bowling. The youth team also held obstacle course/competitions, penalty shootout, crossbar challenge, running races allowing young people to compete for prizes.
In addition to sporting activities and to help relieve the added pressure and challenges some families could experience around food poverty during the summer holidays, The Youth Team also provided healthy packed lunches, snacks and drinks each day throughout the summer for all participants.
Support Parcel Distribution
During the Covid-19 lockdown period, the Youth Team decided to dedicate Thursday mornings to help families and young people facing financial hardship, either due being furloughed, losing their jobs or other personal reasons.
The youth team put together and delivered food parcels to people in need in the local community. The support parcels varied with items such as; household cleaning products to food essentials such as bread, milk, rice and pasta etc. After promoting our services via our social media sources; Facebook and Twitter, this proved to be highly effective as the support parcels were in high demand.
Since March 2020 we have delivered 51 food parcels to families in the local community.
