Child Dynamix Community Nursery Rainbow Preschool

In November of 2017 we expanded our preschool offering to include our sister preschool based at St Ninians Church hall on Chanterlands Avenue. This has given us the opportunity to offer a more flexible approach to childcare and enable us to offer a variety of sessions at either our Salisbury Street site or at Chanterlands Avenue.

Rainbow Preschool caters for children aged three years to five years old and offers a very well-balanced and flexible routine that caters for all our children’s needs enabling them to learn at their own pace. The setting offers a free-flow environment where the children can explore both inside and outdoors independently allowing the children much greater learning opportunities based more freely around their individual interests.

Preschool (36 – 60 months)

The preschool provides a wide range of open ended resources and the open plan layout is designed to meet all the requirements set out within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Within the continuous provision it provides extensive opportunities for the children to enjoy such as;

  • Sand and Water
  • Music and Dance
  • Art and Crafts
  • ICT Equipment
  • Reading Area
  • Exploration/Role Play Area
  • Construction
  • Malleable Resources

These are just a few examples of what the preschool have to offer. The preschool children are invited to participate in small group time activities throughout the day. This will usually be more focused based around letters, sounds and phonics. They will also implement activities such as numbers and shapes along with activities based around feelings and interests etc. Registration is also completed morning and afternoon alongside looking at the weather.

When your child leaves Rainbow Preschool we endeavour to ensure your child is developed and is ready for the next big adventure of transitioning to their chosen primary school. This will include developing their self-care and independence skills and can recognise and identify their own name.

Free-flow Outdoor Play

We have three multi-functional outdoor areas, providing our children with the opportunity to develop their large motor skills and sensory awareness in an environment that is both safe and stimulating.

Children can explore our herb garden and plant vegetables and flowers; participate in den building, climbing and developing their skills on the bikes. If they do not want to do any of these they can enjoy making their own recipes in our very own mud kitchen.

The Next Step

When it comes to leaving Rainbow Nursery and Preschool we endeavour to ensure your child is developed and ready for the transition to their chosen primary school. This will include being fully toilet trained, having the ability to use a knife and fork confidently, can read/write their own name, and can fully undress/dress themselves along with many other skills.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is the statutory framework for setting standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. Through following this it enables us as a nursery to provide the best possible care for your children. We acknowledge all children are unique and thrive on developing their personalities to ensure all children gain high level of self-esteem and self-confidence through the freedom of expression. We achieve this through providing positive relationships and having a key person approach with friendly and highly qualified practitioners.

If you have any queries regarding our curriculum feel free to get in touch. And you can keep up to date with how your child is progressing using our Parenta online system – log in and find out everything to do with your child in our nursery, from your invoices to their last picture.

We offer a Holiday Club for children of primary school age. Reorganising spaces within the nursery, children who attend the Holiday Club spend time in the main nursery space as well as opportunities to go out and about. With your consent, we can arrange trips to the cinema, go bowling and look around local museums – taking a less formal approach to the day!

The holiday club is available during all school holiday with limited availability at Christmas.

The Club is available from 8am to 6pm.

Nursery - have a look around

Our nursery provides a homely and inviting atmosphere where children can come and learn in a nurturing and caring environment. Our parents and carers are comforted in the knowledge that their children feel safe and happy whilst developing those all important secure foundations. We have four highly interactive rooms for the children which are divided according to age groups. All our rooms have a set capacity of children in accordance to the Ofsted guidelines as well as appropriate staff to child ratio to ensure your children’s care is fully supported.

The nursery is based within a converted Victorian semi-detached house set within the idyllic conservation area of the avenues. The area boasts lots of natural beauty and wildlife with good support links to both the local community and transport links further afield, this enables all our children to learn and develop not just within our setting but also through wider opportunities which we feel is invaluable.

Speak to a member of the team if you would like to arrange a show-around, should you choose to take up a place, we will ensure you and your child get plenty of time to ‘settle-in’ before your child starts.

Nursery Team

Our team are all qualified members of staff, who offer the very best opportunities for your child to grow and learn through stimulating, fun activities and learning opportunities.

Lynsey Hughes is our Nursery Manager who leads safeguarding and child protection. Lynsey is supported by Joanne Barker – Deputy Manager and Kerry Batman – Room Leader

Naomi Clark

I have worked for Child Dynamix for 20 years and led and managed Nurseries since 2007. With that experience I make sure Boulevard Nursery is able to provide for and support your child through my amazing team. We are dedicated to making sure your child has the very best experience and opportunities.

I really enjoy working with the children and to see them grow. They can achieve so much in their early years and I want to help them achieve their developmental milestones throughout their time with Child Dynamix and in their preparation for ‘School’.

I have a degree in Early Years and have an early years teaching qualification known as the ‘Early years Professional status’. I lead on safeguarding & child protection and Special Educational Needs in the Nursery.

Lynsey Hughes

I first started working as a Nursery Nurse in 2006 and have since then progressed through a variety of roles and currently hold the position of Manager.

My work experience was based within a nursery when I was 15 years old and I knew from then on I wanted to work with children. I left school and completed my Level 3 in Childcare and Education at Hull College and secured my first job as a Nursery Nurse. Whilst working  in a nursery I completed my BA Honour’s Degree in Early Childhood and Care and an Apprenticeship in Management. I am the named Safeguarding Lead and SENCO Support Officer. I am always eager to learn new skills to gain further knowledge which will enable me to support children, families and staff within the Nursery.

I enjoy working with children and watching how they progress and development new skills. My aim is to give children the best quality of care and provide opportunities for them to thrive and explore in their Early Years.

Joanne Barker

I have worked in the Education sector for 23 years but came to Early Years in 2020 after deciding it was time for a change.  I have worked my way from practitioner to room leader to Deputy Manager in other local nurseries and joined this nursery in 2023.

I love working as part of the team and have thoroughly enjoyed providing the best possible care for the children.  I am passionate about giving children new opportunities and encouraging them to develop their skills and independence through their own interests.  I live locally to the Preschool which gives me a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the area.

I have a PGCE in Primary Teaching and have completed lots of relevant training.  I lead on Special Educational Needs within preschool.
